Principal's Message

Welcome back to our students, parents, faculty, and staff.  I hope each of you enjoyed your summer.  This year marks a new chapter in the life of Liberty Elementary School as we begin to once again serve all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in the Liberty area.  If you are new to Liberty Elementary, I want to welcome you to the LES family.  While this year brings challenges, I am confident we will have a terrific year of learning and growing together!

We have been working hard to create new procedures to make sure we are doing all we can to keep our students and faculty safe.  Their well-being is our top priority.

Parent communication and support is essential to the success of any school.  To keep an open line of communication we will continue to use School Messenger.  This program allows the school and district to send phone messages to each household.  We must always have a current phone number in our systems in order for these messages to reach you.  In addition to this program, we will continue to use our website, social media, newsletters, notes, emails, Schoology, phone calls, Monday folders, and the marquee for communication.

This year we hope to have 100% parent and teacher membership in our PTO.  Although the pandemic might not allow volunteers to come into the school, our PTO board will have many great opportunities for you to be involved in helping the school.

This is my twelfth year as principal of Liberty Elementary.  I was born and raised in Pickens County and I am thankful that my children are growing up here.  I graduated from Daniel High School, have an undergraduate and Masters degree from Clemson University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.  My wife Ellen and I have five terrific boys: Carson (17), Jared (15), Parker (11), Braden (8), and Wyatt (6).  I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, fishing, working on our farm, and sports of all kinds.

I look forward to working with each of you as we continue the tradition of excellence established at Liberty Elementary.

 Sincerely,

 Dr. J. Lowell Haynes

Principal

Liberty Elementary School
