Principal's Message

I'd like to welcome back our students, parents, faculty, and staff. I hope each of you enjoyed your summer. If your child is starting their school career, or if you are new to our area, I would like to welcome you to the LES family. I'm looking forward to a great year as we work together to ensure the learning and growth of our students.

As always, student achievement is our main goal at LES and we have a strong history of academic success. Our school theme this year is a Super Hero theme as we show our students that "Knowledge is Power".

Through staff development and professional reading, our teachers are able to keep current with best practices in education. Just as our vision states, we are truly a school that is "learning and growing together".

Parent communication and support is essential to the success of any school. In efforts to keep an open line of communication we will continue to use School Messenger. This program allows the school and district to send phone messages to each house-hold. We must have a current phone number in our system at all times in order for these messages to reach you. In addition to this program we will continue to use our website, newsletters, notes, phone calls, Thursday folders, and the marquee for communication.

This year we hope to have 100% parent and teacher membership in our PTO. Our PTO board has many great opportunities for you to be involved in the school. We also encourage you to become volunteer trained. In order to be involved in the school in any way you must be trained. Training opportunities will be advertised on the district and school websites as well as through a flyer coming home. Your involvement in the school is always welcome and strongly encouraged.

This is my eighth year as principal of Liberty Elementary. I was born and raised in Pickens County and am thankful that my children are growing up here. I graduated from Daniel High School, have an undergraduate and Masters degree from Clemson University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.  My wife, Ellen, and I have five terrific boys: Carson (13), Jared (11), Parker (7), Braden (4), and Wyatt (2). I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, fishing, working on our farm, and sports of all kinds. I look forward to working with each of you as we continue the tradition of excellence established at Liberty Elementary.
Sincerely,
J. Lowell Haynes
