Please join me in welcoming our new Attendance Clerk, Julia Hagins! Ms. Hagins comes to us from Clemson University, where she studied sociology and psychology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family in Clemson, being at the barn with her horse, and staying home with her cat. When asked what she will enjoy most about being at Daniel, she said, "I look forward to getting involved in the Daniel community and supporting students in every way that I can!" We are so happy to have you here, Ms. Hagins! Welcome to Daniel.

Please join me in welcoming another math teacher on the hall, Dr. Mandy Wimpey. Dr. Wimpey will be teaching Geometry, Algebra 2 Honors, and Intermediate Algebra. This is her 27th year as an educator and has taught at Westside High, Palmetto High, and Pendleton High. She also taught at Anderson University for 15 years. She was District Testing Coordinator and Data and Accountability Facilitator for Anderson 4 before coming to Daniel. Dr. Wimpey grew up in Jacksonville, FL, and moved to Six Mile during her senior year of high school. She graduated from Daniel in 1993. She enjoys playing the piano and singing for her church. She loves sports, music, and reading. She has one grandson and a granddaughter on the way. Dr. Wimpey is excited to be returning to the classroom and her high school alma mater. Welcome Dr. Wimpey!

Please join me in congratulating Coach Jacob Wichelns as he moves into a new role within SDPC as a Social Studies teacher at Daniel! Coach Wichelns started his career at Clemson Elementary, then taught at R.C. Edwards Middle School, where he was also the Athletic Director. He graduated from Daniel High School before earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University. Coach Wichelns is now working on his doctorate at Clemson in Educational Leadership. You can catch him in the fall on the Daniel football field as a receivers coach and down at the track in the spring as the girls head track coach. He will also help as an assistant AD. Coach Wichelns says he is extremely excited to continue serving our community in this new role. Welcome Coach Wich!

Please join me in welcoming our new Data Entry Clerk, Deanna Stanley. Mrs. Stanley lives in Pickens and was formerly a Data Entry Clerk at Hagood Elementary. She and her family moved to Haiti in 2018 to do missions. After returning in 2021, she then went to Greenville County Schools to work as a K5 assistant. She is happy to be back in Pickens County and working at Daniel! Mrs. Stanley is married and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with them, walking on the Doodle Trail, and reading. When asked what she is looking forward to the most this year, she replied: "I am really looking forward to being a part of the Daniel family this year!" Welcome Mrs. Stanley!


Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Lynn Potts as she moves into a new role as our Study Hall supervisor! Mrs. Potts has been a member of the D. W. Daniel High School family for several years. She is always willing to step up where needed making her a huge asset for our school. Mrs. Potts grew up in Anderson, SC and graduated from TL Hanna High School before earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University. She is married to Stephen Potts, and they have two children and one grandson. She enjoys reading while sitting on the beach with a cool breeze blowing. Many of our students remember Mrs. Potts from Edwards Middle School where she taught math. When asked what she likes most about teaching at Daniel, she replied: “I love watching students I’ve had the privilege to teach grow into young adults.”
