Last week, students from Youth in Government and Interact volunteered at the Sweets on the Streets in Easley. Students made booths, dressed up, and gave out candy in downtown Easley. #FindYourE
Mrs. Reeder's Chemistry students got an introduction to covalent bonding by making 3D models from 2D via phet simulations on Friday. #FindYourE

Every once in awhile our students in National Art Honor Society have "art drops" where they hide pieces of artwork around campus. Today there are several spooky blocks hiding out, waiting for someone! Finders keepers!

Mr. Serina helped lead a virtual reality experience on Mitosis in Mr. Helms' s Honors Biology class today! We are hoping to incorporate more VR activities into our classrooms. The students thought it was really cool!

Here's a quick lesson on population survivorship from Mrs. Taylor and her students:
Whether individuals die very young or live into old age is often dependent on the species. There are three general patterns that species are often classified into: Type 1 (nurtured babies), Type 2 (bottleneck babies) and Type 3 (sink or swim babies).
During this lab, students were tasked to represent populations with bubbles and demonstrate how their survivorship is dependent on different factors. Students blew bubbles and left them alone until they popped, forced them through a frame (bottleneck), and also used a variety of tactics to keep their bubble babies "alive" for as long as possible. The data collected from the different strategies was graphed and analyzed to show the different types of survivorships.
